Crossing the Rainbow Bridge

Thu Apr 20, 2006, 5:57 AM
GoofyKat passed over the Rainbow Bridge, 19 Apr 2006 at 2:30pm.

He crashed hard on Monday. He refused to eat or drink. He couldn't walk anymore. He had been hiding. And when he did come out, he would not move, raise his head or anything. We knew it was time. We tried everything that night to bring him back. We've had him refuse to eat before and brought him back with canned tuna, salmon and chicken. But not this time. This time he refused all the good stuff. We knew. We went to go take him in to end his suffering, but it was afterhours and it was an additional $100. Unfortunately, we couldn't afford this so we tried to make him as comfortable as possible on Monday night. We stayed up with him most of the night. Anthony scraped off some morphine from one of his pills, not too much, but a little, and fed it to him. We had to break the needle off his insulin needles to force water in his mouth. He was so dehydrated. But, we really think the little bit of morphine helped him through the night. I had to go to work, which was really hard being up most of the night. I had a hard time driving. DH, took a nap. And then, later, he took GoofyKat to our Vet, who agreed it was time.

When I came home from work, there Anthony sat on the couch, next to the cat carrier. GoofyKat was inside, wrapped in his quilt I made him when he was a kitten. He will be burried in that too. It is so sad. We had him for 16.5 years. He was our first baby. And Joshua doesn't understand. How can you expect a 3 year old to understand?! Though, he does try to comfort us. The words out of his mouth last night were amazing. "It's ok. He's safe with God now".

THank you very much for the +favs. :) Glad you like my photos. I have a question for you. Do you live in Texas? I'm only guessing from your journal entry, but live in Texas, and I know it's around 80 here (and not that high elsewhere) not a really important question, but it just cropped up in my mind. ;P Thanks again.
:iconladyjai:
No, I used to live in Texas, but now I'm in Florida. :P

I saw that you live near San Antonio, and got your shots from the zoo! That must be awesome! Last time we went to the zoo we took pics of the flowers. LOL So, hopefully, next time, we can get good shots of the kitties and such there. However, our Olympus E-10 is crapping out...the LCD on top is not working so we cannot tell what settings the camera is in :( I'm sad, because I want to learn more about digital photography.

:O ...Oh, I had no idea it was so hot in Florida (though I guess it makes sense). :D I myself technically live in San Antonio (though I'm at college in San Angelo now). But yes, I've been going to the San Antonio zoo for 2-3 years now. Don't know much about digital photography myself - I'm old school on formats - but I hope your camera issues work out for you. :)

I bet the San Antonio zoo is awesome. The Jacksonville Zoo is pretty decent. I have never really been to one that allowed the animals in the open, except in England at a Safari Park (but then, you couldn't get out of your car).

I used to live up near Ft. Hood. I miss Texas, just not that area. The people are so wonderfully nice and it was just grand! Maybe one day we can move back.

Thanks for the pics. Keep them up. I've added you to my watch list if that's ok. :)
